French club
The French Club at Palmer welcomes all students, including beginners, who want to learn about french culture. The club’s purpose is to help both the language and cultural diversity through fun and interactive activities. Members improve their French by joining discussions, presentations, and games such as Kahoot or Jeopardy. Movie nights also allow students to practice listening and speaking while sharing opinions with peers. The club helps students gain confidence and discover how enjoyable learning French can be outside of the classroom.
Careers
Taking French opens doors to a wide range of career opportunities in Canada and beyond. Students who study French can pursue jobs in government, engineering, healthcare, environmentalism, and even public transit services such as airports and postal work. Being bilingual in both of Canada’s official languages is also highly valued by employers and looks impressive on a resume. French offers cultural understanding that connects students to Canada’s diverse identity.

Lesson
A French lesson starts with a short grammar review, followed by interactive activities designed to help students get comfortable speaking the language. Students are often encouraged to speak only French for a portion of the class, using specific themes to guide conversation. Worksheets and teacher support ensure that everyone has help when needed.

Lesson for 11's and 12's

French 11 and 12 at Palmer are combined into one advanced course where students work independently and explore the language in depth. The focus is on mastering grammar, communication, and cultural appreciation. Students engage in discussions, analyze songs and stories, and even visit a French restaurant where they must speak entirely in French. Major projects include writing and performing skits, and analyzing lyrics or films. By this stage, students are well prepared for university level French and have a strong understanding of french culture.
